Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and AlterLife ("AlterLife", "we", "us") covering the AlterLife game, launcher, website and every related service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, downloading the launcher, playing, or using any feature of the Service — including Match my photo — you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can play
AlterLife is an adults-only service with mature and sexual content. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if that is higher) to create an account or use the Service. By using it you confirm that you are. If we learn or reasonably believe that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it.
2. Zero tolerance: minors
We take the protection of children extremely seriously. AlterLife has zero tolerance for any content or behavior that involves, depicts or sexualizes minors. You may not, anywhere in the Service:
- upload, share or link any image, video, texture or other content showing a person under 18, including in Match my photo;
- create, style or present an avatar to look like, or be role-played as, a child or anyone under 18;
- use chat, builds, clothing, textures, names or any other feature to sexualize minors or to seek contact with minors;
- try to get around our safeguards, for example by editing a photo of a minor to look older.
If you break this rule, your account will be terminated permanently, without warning. Any coins, gems, items or other purchases on the account are forfeited, and no refunds will be given. We will also preserve the relevant information and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement where required or appropriate (see section 9). Accounts created to get around a ban will also be closed.
3. Match my photo
Match my photo lets you start your avatar from a picture of yourself. By using it, you agree to these Terms and confirm that:
- the photo is of you, and you are 18 or older;
- it isn't a photo of anyone else — not a friend, partner, ex, coworker, celebrity or stranger — and you won't use the feature to recreate someone else's likeness;
- it doesn't show anyone under 18 (see section 2).
How your photo is handled. Your game shrinks the photo and sends it to AlterLife only when you choose it. We pass it to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), for the sole purpose of suggesting avatar settings: body sliders, skin, eye, eyebrow and hair colours, and a hair or beard style. AlterLife does not save the photo, does not show it to other players, and only keeps the suggested settings if you press APPLY. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms. Under those terms it does not use the photo to train its models, and it may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring.
The result is a starting point, not a likeness, and it may be inaccurate. We may refuse a photo — for example, if no person is visible, several people are, or the person may be under 18 — and we may limit how often the feature can be used.
4. Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- One person per account. Don't sell, trade, share or transfer accounts.
- Tell us right away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
5. How to behave
AlterLife is a place for consenting adults to meet, build and play. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, bully or abuse other players, or keep contacting someone who has asked you to stop or has blocked you;
- engage anyone in sexual content or role-play without their consent;
- impersonate another player, a real person, staff or AlterLife;
- share another person's private information, or intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- post hate speech, or content that promotes violence, terrorism or self-harm;
- upload content you don't have the right to use, including someone else's artwork or likeness;
- cheat, exploit bugs, use bots or unauthorized software, attack or overload our servers, or reverse-engineer the Service;
- scam players, sell items or accounts for real money outside the Service, or advertise without permission;
- break any law that applies to you or to us.
6. What you create and upload
You keep ownership of what you create and upload — builds, textures, models, chat messages and avatar designs ("Your Content"). You give AlterLife a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display and distribute Your Content as needed to run, promote and improve the Service. You confirm you have the rights needed to grant that license. We may review, hide or remove any content, and we may keep copies of content that breaks these Terms as evidence.
7. Coins, gems and purchases
Coins, gems, items and other virtual goods are a limited, revocable license to use them inside the Service. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and aren't your property. Except where the law requires otherwise, all purchases are final and non-refundable, including when an account is suspended or terminated for breaking these Terms. We may change prices, items and how virtual goods work.
8. Enforcement and termination
If you break these Terms, we may — at our discretion and with or without notice — warn you, remove content, restrict features, suspend your account, or terminate it permanently. Breaking section 2 always results in permanent termination. When an account is terminated, you lose access to it and to everything on it, including virtual goods, with no refund. You can stop using the Service at any time. We may change, pause or end any part of the Service.
9. Reporting to authorities
We cooperate with law enforcement. We report apparent child sexual abuse material and the exploitation of minors to NCMEC as US law requires, and we may report other illegal activity or credible threats of harm to the appropriate authorities. When we do, we may share the account details, content, messages and technical information (such as IP addresses) connected to the report, and we may keep that information as long as the law allows or requires.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is in Early Access and is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that features — including Match my photo — will give accurate results. To the fullest extent the law allows, AlterLife is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for anything other players do. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we make a significant change, we'll post it on this page with a new effective date and may also announce it in game or on our Updates page. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.
